Throughout our lives we may have been compelled to believe in another's truth.  Given the environments in which we've lived, we may not have been exposed to other possibilities.  Thus it may have never even occurred to us that the truth could be something different than what we had come to accept as fact.  Who is to say that any one particular perspective is the only true one?  Who is to say that someone else's perspective is more credible or viable than your own?
